The Rosenberg Meta: New Yorkers witness students' project 'SolarSunflowers'
It was a very exciting week for The Rosenberg Meta - the world's first student-create metaverse in collaboration with Studio 697 THz - as our project 'SolarSunflowers' launched at the Swissnex Boston Climate Ring exhibition in New York. Using an augmented reality app, visitors (including some Rosenberg alumni pictured above!) were invited to plant their own individual virtual SolarSunflower that gradually filled the intersection of 1st Avenue & E 9th St. Each sunflower planted triggered a real-world donation, allowing visitors to see the immediate impact of their contribution by celebrating the blend of creativity and activism in tackling the climate crisis. In addition to this, our 117 student-designed digital artifacts currently living within the Metaverse were online for purchase during the event, with 100% of proceeds going toward our 9 student-selected charities. A huge thank you to all of our wonderful partners for making this exciting project possible!
